About the workshop
Are you interested in learning shibari, the Japanese art of rope bondage? This workshop is intended for total beginners, without any prior knowledge. It will give you an introduction to the world of tying and tools to start using ropes at home immediately. You will learn the basic knots and frictions and how to apply the basic concepts to improvise tying on the whole body.
What you will learn
- The fundamentals, starting with security, negotiation, and consent
- Basic knots: single column tie (SCT) and double column tie (DCT)
- Frictions and how to “finish the rope”
- How to use knots and frictions to tie different body parts
- Tips to improve the connection to your partner and fluidity of tying
Practical information
- Partners can alternate between tying and receiving rope during the workshop.
- Bring one or two ropes. Loan ropes are available, and prepared ropes can also be purchased.
- Wear comfortable, fairly close-fitting clothing that allows easy movement.
